How-to-treat-smile-lines

Smile lines are medically referred to as nasolabial folds

The development of these lines can be caused by a variety of different factors such as ageing, stress or even malnutrition. A variety of factors will determine the proper treatment.

Injectable filler materials may be used to temporarily fill the smile lines.
Collagen and hyaluronic acid fillers can be injected directly into wrinkles to restore volume loss. Collagen is thin and more viscous, therefore making it easier to apply under thin skin such as the eye area. By contrast, hyaluronic acid, which is denser and lasts longer, is better suited for filling the nasolabial area (the lines from mouth to nose).

BOTOX Cosmetic is another option and may be used to prevent a wrinkle caused by repetitive muscle movement from getting deeper.

Lasers (e.g., carbon dioxide, erbium:YAG) and chemical peels may also be used to resurface the skin.

Another option is liposculpting, which requires harvest from another site on the body, such as the stomach or thighs and in extreme cases a face lift surgery may also be considered as a viable option.
