The presence of a low percentage of T.C.A stimulates the production of collagen and glycosaminoglycans and increases the production of elastin fibers.

Resorcinol (precursor of hydroquinone), on the other hand, carries out a depigmenting action by acting directly on tyrosinase and inhibiting the production of melanin.
